Trim a GIF by time or frames

GIF Cutter keeps a consecutive section of an animation and removes the rest. It shortens playback without cropping the picture or changing its dimensions. Choose a time range for a quick trim, or frame numbers to control exactly which frames remain.

Cut a GIF by time

Enter a start and end in seconds within the original duration. The GIF Trimmer keeps complete frames that overlap this interval. A boundary within a frame includes that whole frame, so the actual clip can be slightly longer than the requested interval. Check the selected duration before cutting.

Trim a GIF by frame number

Frame numbers start at 1. Both the start and end frames are included: selecting frames 3–8 keeps six frames. Their original playback delays are retained. Selecting one frame produces a still GIF, while selecting every frame returns the original file.

GIF Cutter or GIF Cropper?

Use GIF Cutter to shorten an animation in time. Use GIF Resizer to crop the visible picture or change its width and height. After trimming, GIF Compressor can reduce the file size further, and GIF Speed Changer can adjust its playback pace.

GIF Cutter FAQ

Upload an animated GIF, choose the start and end of the section you want, and click Cut GIF. You can select seconds or frame numbers. Preview the shorter GIF and download it before the uploaded file expires.

Yes. Choose the Frames tab and enter the first and last frame to keep. Frame numbering starts at 1, and both endpoints are included. For example, frames 3–8 produce a six-frame GIF with the selected frames’ original playback timing.

The cutter retains the selected frames’ displayed pixels and original dimensions, without reducing colors or applying lossy compression. It rebuilds the frame data so a clip starting in the middle displays correctly. File bytes and size can change even though the selected pictures are preserved.

Time ranges keep whole frames that overlap the requested interval. If a start or end time falls within a frame, that frame is included in full. The settings and result show the actual range and duration. Use frame mode for an explicit selection.

Yes. Set the start after the beginning and the end before the original duration, or select an interior frame range. GIF Cutter exports that one consecutive section. The first version does not join separate sections or remove an interval from the middle.

GIF Cutter trims animation time, rather than the visible picture. To cut a rectangular area from every frame or change width and height, use GIF Resizer. The tools are linked below the settings guide and in the GIF Tools menu.

GIF Cutter is free and requires no account. GIF files are uploaded for processing and become unavailable one hour after upload. Scheduled cleanup removes expired files. The upload area shows the current file limit; download your result before it expires.
