Speed up or slow down a GIF

This GIF Speed Changer edits frame delays while keeping image data, dimensions, frames, transparency and loop settings. It does not reduce colors or recompress the pictures.

Slow down GIF playback

Choose 0.5× for approximately twice the duration, or 0.25× for four times the duration. Slower playback can make instructions and details easier to follow.

Speed up GIF playback

Choose 2× for approximately half the duration, or 4× for a faster animation. Every frame stays in the GIF; this tool changes timing rather than removing frames.

Check the actual duration

GIF stores timing in 10 ms steps. Very short frame delays are kept at 20 ms for common browser playback, and long delays are limited by the GIF format. Check the output duration and actual multiplier before downloading.

No. The tool preserves the compressed image data, colors, dimensions, frame count, transparency and disposal settings. It changes frame timing and adds timing controls only when a frame has none.

Files are uploaded to the server for processing. Originals and results are temporary, expire 1 hour after upload, and are removed by a scheduled cleanup task. Download your result before it expires.

Currently, GIF input and output are supported, up to 20 MB and 1024 pixels per dimension. Frame count, duration, and total decoded pixels are also limited; very complex files may need to be simplified.

GIF timing uses whole centiseconds. Rounding and minimum or maximum frame delays can make the result differ from the requested multiplier. Browsers may also handle timing differently. The result shows the measured duration and actual multiplier.
